Nepal Visa Information

As of last update in September 2021, the visa process and costs for tourists visiting Nepal were as follows:

Visa Process:

  • Visa on Arrival: Nepal offers a Visa on Arrival (VOA) facility for most foreign nationals arriving at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu and some land border crossings. Travelers can obtain a visa upon arrival by filling out a visa application form and paying the visa fee in cash (USD or other major currencies) or using credit/debit cards at the visa counter.
  • Online Visa Application: In addition to the Visa on Arrival, travelers from certain countries can also apply for a tourist visa online through the official website of the Department of Immigration of Nepal. The process involves filling out the application form, uploading necessary documents, and making the payment online. Upon approval, travelers will receive an electronic visa (eVisa) that they need to print and present upon arrival in Nepal.

Costing: The visa fees for tourists visiting Nepal vary depending on the duration of stay and nationality of the traveler. As of 2021, the costs for tourist visas were as follows:

  • 15 Days Multiple Entry Visa: USD 30
  • 30 Days Multiple Entry Visa: USD 50
  • 90 Days Multiple Entry Visa: USD 125

Please note that the visa fees are subject to change, so it is essential to check the latest information from the official website of the Department of Immigration of Nepal or consult the Nepalese embassy or consulate in your country before your trip.

Duration of Stay: The standard tourist visa for Nepal allows travelers to stay in the country for the duration specified on the visa. Tourists can extend their visa while in Nepal at the Department of Immigration in Kathmandu or immigration offices in other major cities. However, visa extensions may incur additional fees.
